Default hah windows error!!

Go to http://www.google.com. Click on View->Source. Now close the browser.

Now, Create a folder on desktop. Name it "Notepad".
Repeate the above process !!!

Amazing, huh ??

* Works on IE only !!!

reason?

someone forgot to specify the path for "notepad"

it should have been like

%systemroot%system32notepad.exe

(on most systems, %systemroot% = c:windows)

but some idiot on the IE development team just coded "notepad"

so it searches for the first thing it finds called "notepad".. and finds the folder on the desktop

normally, it works because there is nothing on the desktop called notepad .. or in the current folder.. so it goes looks in

%systemroot% ( which is c:windows)
%systemroot%system32 (which is c:windowssystem32)

there it finds the actual notepad application and it runs it.

To be honest, NOTHING suprises me with Microsoft and their lazy programming.

Hum, agreed. You know, it's the little things that count, and in the computer world, it is vital. One small code could end up is hundreds of crashes. Codes are in a basic foundation, once you can't make that simple foundation, you're screwed.

I think that Microsoft's operating systems suffer from "code bloat" - When Microsoft create a new version, a lot of code from the old one remains - just take a look in your System folder and you'll see what I mean.
A lot of the code is still in the system, but is not ever used.

Yeah, I’ve heard of that. I’ve also heard, Microsoft just adds codes, just keeps addin’ them, and the results are like what you said, code bloat. In terms, doesn’t make a stable Operating System. All they do is add codes. And on the top side, they make you pay outrages prices for them. But then again, we have an option to use it, but on the other side, we’ve created a dead lock. So we are basically stuck in the Windows world, in order to run the right software and such. I bet, but I’m not exactly sure, that there are still some codes remaining from Windows 95….
