Did the computer come with Vista? If so, is it a computer brand ( What brand and model do you have ) or home built? If store bought you will have to check with the manufacturer to see if they have mobo drivers, video, sound, modem, etc for XP Pro. It is possible but is it worth the effort. What's wrong with Vista? There are many articles you can read. Just Google it How to Delete Vista and Replace With Windows XP Laptop | eHow.com

I would contact Dell technical support to make sure. There is over 20,000 items of info for this computer but I did not find anything for XP. You would still need all the items I mentioned previously. Dell - Search - All Dell.com

If you go thru with the switch you want to be careful that some hardware may not work if it is possibly ONLY VISTA COMPATIBLE!

For example I wanted to do a downgrade on my laptop and called support and found out my fingerprint reader, webcam, and touchpad would not work because all of these items had Vista Only Drivers.
