Aright guys, i've tried some things and all have failed. I have a eMachine T5226 and it has a dual-layer readable and writeable CD-DVD drive. Now the thing is, everytime i throw a dual layer disc in there, and i try and read or write to it, it freezes up and corrupts my windows explorer. Which then causes the whole computer to take a shit on itself and leaves me pissed off. It does this EVERY time and i have no clue what to do. Since i've tried many things, i now come to you guys. Please help. Thanks.

Okay, so even if you were to put an audio disc in the drive, the computer will freeze up?

No, it only freezes up when i put in dual layer discs, and on vista you dont need software to burn things to discs it does it automatically when you drag and drop.

My understanding is drag and drop is for CD only.

Really? Cuz i've been doing the "drag and drop" on the Dual layer disc for some time now and it worked perfectly. But... now all of a sudden it doesnt want to work. And the thing is, is now it wont even READ the disc. I know this becuase im POSITIVE that there is over 5GB of files on the dual layer disc, and everytime i pop it in it just doesnt load. Im bugin out cuz i have some really sensitive data on thier. (psst... itz pr0n) xDD

Nawdy Ghostie - maybe u downloaded something nasty with the other nasty stuff onto the disc that is causing this? Have you tried the disc in another computer?

Maybe try and perform a repair install of vista from booting from the cd or try and take vista back using a restore point
