Cool Will it always be a Windows World?

In the next 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 years, do you think Windows will continue to be the most popular operating system, or will another OS take away Microsoft's glory?

I think Microsoft will always dominate the Operating System software world due to its Compatability and ease of use more than anything else. The trouble is people are used to Windows and comfortable with it, and for a lot of people changing to say Linux is out of the question simply because its something new. In my experience people are afraid of change, which is a shame.

yeah, i agree with Pickles there. I took my computer to school once though and it was put on a projector screen for a video (english speech) and everyone suddenly said "wow, how much does linux cost! where do you get it!" so yeah. all it takes is abit of eye candy to convince someone into changing operating system these days. Since Vista im sure people are getting more and more turned off by the idea of having Windows though.

I think that it will be for a long time and that windows will never go away, however overtime I do believe that Linux will get a lot bigger chunk of the market share and will be a big competitor to MS.

hmm, Well I think Linux are slowly going to take over more of the market.
Personally, I think Vista was a bit of a flop.. and thats the reason a lot of people went over to Linux.

If the next OS that Microsoft release is as bad as Vista, Then I think Linux will just start taking over.

As for Mac.. I doubt that is going to get anywhere...

lol yeah, macs had their chance to become awesome and for some reason they never did. I think windows 7 is going to be just as bad as Vista, apparently Vista had so many issues they decided they would just release a whole new OS instead of updates and bug fixes. Hence, why, Vienna looks exactly the same as Vista.

Yeah... I don't know why Mac's didn't really take of for.. they advertised them a lot with them adverts - 'I'm a PC, and I'm a Mac!' heh.

And I'm sure that the design will change for Windows 7 once it gets closer to the release date. Theres a lot of fake copies out on the net, which are just Vista changed around a little bit.

But yeah, Windows 7 has to be really amazing to make up for Vista I think.. otherwise I think they are going to slowly start loosing...
