For quite a while now I have been getting 2 error messages that don't seem to do anything. Except annoy me. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of them.

!st Message.

"pchnotify.exe
pchnotify.exe has encountered problems and needs to close."
If I press close button, message goes away and all is then well. How can I stop it from coming in the first place?

2nd Message.

"http//www._______________________
Windows cannot find http//www. ___________________ Make sure you typed name correctly and try again."

This message occurs every time I try to log into a site. It is meaningless because windows CAN find the site. When I log out of the site the message is still there and I have to manually click on it to remove message. Again can anyone tell me how to stop it coming in the first place?

Hope someone on here can help me. They do not appear to be serious messages, just very annoying.

for the first message its and execution file which means there is a program you have that doesn't have the neccasary files it needs to run correctly. this can simply be solved by searching for a file,folder or program with that name and delete that file. if you can't find it go into menu and type into the search box the name of the program. as for the second message, if you are positive that you type it in correctly then it may be your IE or watever internet you using. try looking for another setup file from google or downloads.com and reinstall or repair it. I would like to know what internet program your using, can you please specify?

Well I have found 3 files, all in Documents and Settings. One for me and one each in both my sons accounts. they are all 3KB files. All are Configuration Settings.
It has just found another one, no three more.
One in C.\ Windows\Prefetch 32KB PF file.
Two in C.\ Program Files\Presario PC Hel.... 300KB Application
Three in C.\Windows\PC Heatth\ HelpCt.... 300KB Application

So do I delete all 6 of them? No adverse affects?

well really im not big on the deleting and then seeing what happens, so what i would do is if you have the files on both accounts then you should only delete it from one account and then see what happens, and if it doesnt work then there would be no point and if it messes up anything then you should system restore. But please, before you delete anything back up any files that are important to you so in the event that it was a corrupt file and it wasnt supposed to be deleted then you can just format your HardDrive and then upload all your files back onto your computer.Good as new!

Right, I will delete it from one of the sons accounts and see what happens.
You asked what internet program I was using. If you mean browser it is Firefox. But if you meant individual sites, it happens on allsites. I do type addy in correctly because if I ignore the message it seems to override message after a few seconds and then opens it up.

yes i meant browser, sorry for inconvenience, But wut you should do to get rid of this message if you do not know how to get rid of it, is to download a CLEAN copy of firefox or w/e browser and then Re-Install it and see what comes up. Please report back with results

well there's your answer good luck with safari I think safari will have more problems running on windows since itsreally made for macs but hey, if you dont like it, get rid of it and go back to the one you like best!

I tried safari and absolutely loved it, but for some reason when scrolling down on certain web pages it was really jumpy?? So i went back to FireFox

Just a tip... instead of deleting suspect files you can try renaming them. For example, right click on the file, select rename, leave the name intact but add bak to it. (pchnotify.exe becomes bakpchnotify.exe) If you find you do need the file after all then you can simply rename it to what it was.
