Default Vista Service Pack 1
Hey there Everyone!! Microsoft Windows Vista Service pack 1 will finally be available to the Genreal Public via microsoft.com on Wednesday 19th March. It has previously only been available to beta testers, but as of Wednesday any body can download it.

In my testing of the service pack, Vista seems to run a lot better after installing the sp1. File copying is faster, Its repsponse times seem faster and it just generally gives the feel of running better. If you have Vista on your machine then I strongly advise this upgrade.

They have not provided a link, and they probably wont until Wednesday when its released. Ill post it as soon as i know it. If not just search MS website for vista sp1 and it should be displayed in the search results

When I looked up SP1 it stated that a much smaller file will be offered through Window Update but would not be offered to you unless your drivers were up to date. You can download a stand alone copy (750 megs) or wait for it in Windows Update (65megs). I got it through update about 10 minutes later despite supposedly having outdated drivers for my mouse and sound.

Hmm... Ive not heard this. It worked ok for me. Thats not to say that it will work for everyone but I had no problems

Vista SP1 doesn't kill PCs... Vista kills the performance of PC's.

Worked fine for me. Faster and no errors yet. I personally think Vista is better suited to newer motherboard with updated drivers.

My custom system isn't even a year old and SP1 made my system slower. I didn't hvae any errors however, but I didnt before SP1 either.
