oops! yeah back to windows...
Why do you say its almost impossible to get XP to work on it for???
Surly if Vista is working fine on it, then XP should be no problem

Well basically the reasons are that the laptop uses HD-Audio drivers, which are in two parts the chipset drivers and the realtek drivers. These install automatically when installing vista but not when installing xp. I have downloaded the chipset drivers and then added the realtek drivers and still no joy. This is a common problem with this laptop and many people have not managed to install XP successfuly. I have looked on loads of forums and even a dedicated ADVENT forum and still no luck. I reckon all in all i have spent about 40 hours trying to get this to work. There are also other issues aswell. It seems advent really dont want you to use xp with this model.

I had similar problems with HD Audio, but I got it sorted. Did you download and install the MS-provided driver first?

When i started the beta, and after the official release, I have yet to have a BSoD. It's stable in and of itself. This is if you have hardware that can handle it.

If your system is "compatible" or questionable, you can expect to have problems with drivers, causing BSoD's.

MS has been in hot water for their Vista Capable and Vista Ready confusing/misleading advertising.

The hardware, yes, but did the manufacturer make the drivers properly. Think Whql stuff for XP. Some manufacturers will provide a driver for their hardware, but not have it go through the certification process. Sometimes it is GREAT, others it is questionable. Vista by itself is rather stable. The drivers (which was my point), are not always as stable w/ vista. Thus, causing some Blue Screens.

Other than that if the hardware is bad (yes even NEW stuff sometimes is bad), it will Blue Screen .
