First off, why did you reinstall to begin with? What few programs did you download?

you could try going to system restore in the system tools menu and rolling your computer back to how it was before you installed the programs. although i cant see why any of these would have caused a problem. Have you run a virus scan to see if maybe your computer is infected? I had a similar problem once. i did re-stall then installed programs and it started going slow. i tried allsorts but nothing worked and in the end i installed xp again, but that is a bit drastic. run a virus scan and see if it picks up anything

avast is a very good free anti-virus, it detects and removes too! but maybe another forum member has some ideas.

thanks a lot. i really appreciate it.. but this is a lil off topic.. but that avast thing... is that better and/or faster than kaspersky? cuz i think part of the problem is my anti virus is slowing it down.. i had avg and it was good than my buddy put kaspersky on.. i always wondered what the fastest and best anti virus is

You just reinstalled your os, so how do you think you are going to do a system restore? As far as what is faster as far as an antivirus progran is concerned, that really is mute. You have done something to your system that is slowing it down. Whether intentional or not, start from scratch with what you originally had on there before the reinstall. Read everything before you download again!

You can restore back to the point where your OS created its first restore point (system check point).

thats what i was trying to say, even though it has only just been reinstalled, you should still be able to go back to a restore point before you installed these programs
