Default Vista doesn't see my dvd drives any more?

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how was it resolved?

I recently built a computer and installed Vista Home Premium(OEM). Like most others, I had some problems at first. After systematically, downloading drivers and updating MS software things were looking pretty good.

After loading the last 3 Windows updates, My computer doesn't "See" my DVD or DVD Writer any more.
When I run "Belarc Adviser", both show up as being part of my system.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What were the last 3 updates that you downloaded? Maybe one of those is conflicting with your rom drives and you might have to update the rom drivers.

Vista never recognized my DVD drives from the start. I don't know what to do. I wish I still had XP or Windows 2000.
