I recently downloaded a virus by accident and couldn't get rid of it, so I Ghost Axed my entire system, and reinstalled my OS but ever since I did that, my OS has been screwing up all the time!! It is really annoying! My problem is very similar to: A Mysterious Problem with XP

I was wondering if there was any program to search the Windows system files for errors. It usually crashes when I open a Firefox and my Frostwire at the same time, but I've also noticed that it always crashes when I try to watch Youtube videos. These are the two most common problems, but now it is coming up with the message "cannot access this Win32 file". I also had it crash whenever I tried installing a Yahoo Messenger.


I ran Hijack This and all the programs it came up with all seemed normal, I've ran a full system scan with AVG, and ran CCleaner. I don't think its a virus because I've had it ever since I installed the OS, even before I set it up for internet. Anybody body know how to fix this?

Oh, and I've tried the OS on two different HD's and still get the same problems..

If it was a problem with the installation, wouldn't I have had a good copy on the second hard drive I used the OS for?

something may have messed up during installation
, id say wipe both drives and reinstall xp on one , and create the other as slave

I'll try reinstalling, but I can't use both drives at once. I only have one HD slot in my case.

okay , that shouldent matter , you can allways get a get an external drive case for it

I've been thinking...I have an extra copy of Vista and I've heard you can downgrade a Vista OS into a XP Pro OS. My computer is nowhere near fast enough for vista, but if I were to install Vista then downgrade, would I be alright? BTW, I'm running 2.66ghz Intel with 250 WD HD. I have 512 Ram and I think the speed is 500 something.

Yeah I'd have to say, I'd just reinstall again. It's a pain, but reinstalling will pretty much solve any non hardware issue. Just don't restore the ghost image, start from scratch. You want to make sure you're not restoring anything harmful
