| Sounds like you'll need to either run a repair install or reformat. Look on the side of your PC - and check that there is a sticker which mentions "Windows XP" on it. If there isn't, it could be that WGA has rendered your PC inoperable.

| In the future, please post in readable English. If you wish to fix this problem, install the boot disc, go to the boot menu (F12 for most computers) with the Windows XP Service Pack 2 disc inserted in the tray, then when it has loaded, press R and repair your installation on your C Drive. If none of this works, I highly recommend taking a sledgehammer to your computer, as nothing else will fix it, apart from Linux. ~ Keith

| The downside with the Repair option is that it recreates your registry files. While this is good, it has a drawback. Your installed (and registered) applications are installed on the computer, but will require a repair or reinstall to get them to function properly. It's just a time consuming hassle, and you could just as easily reinstall from scratch. Additionally, if you have a virus laden machine, the repair function does not delete the problematic infection. It leaves the files on the computer. Nay, in my humble opinion, it is far better to do a complete reinstall if you have such a severe virus problem. You will need to re-update the computer, as well as re-install applications. But that is what Backups are for. Last edited by Thaylok; 10-17-2007 at 02:05 PM. Reason: Correct a typo |

| I think you'd be right there buddy. Go and get an External HDD and run Ubuntu off the live CD to back up all your files onto your external. That's what I had to do when my laptop stuffed up.
