Default Vista 32 or 64 bit?

Any recommendations on whether to buy the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Vista. I've heard there is not a lot hardware or software that is supporting 64 bit yet.

Does your Processor support 64 Bit? If it doesn't, you have to go with 32 Bit. If it does, you have a choice between 32 Bit and 64 Bit.

64 Bit is technically better, but not a lot of programs actually utilize it yet, so it sorta seems like a waste. Not to mention, if I remember correctly, the 64 Bit version of Vista doesn't allow you to install 3rd party drivers...

Thumbs down

I have 64 bit Vista and I now wish I'd gotten the 32 bit version. Lots of programs even now are not supported and many antivirus systems won't work either. 64 bit is for the future but apparantly farther into the future than I thought.

i think vista is a bad idea my friend has vista and it barely retains any downloads (dumps them for fun)
and it runs slower than my xp... wait for a while until it gets alittle "user-friendly"

personally, i went 32 bit with my 3 new pc's. only downfall is RAM can only be utalised/seem to 3 gigs. i have XP on 2 and Vista HP with 1. I tried 64 bit XP some time ago, and the error messages where a real pain, and vista makes it twice as painfull!!

dont bother with 64Bit, most people dont use thier hardware enough for it anyway and people dont know how to edit thier systems enough to cut out some of the things on vista 64 bit version etc

Speaking of editing, is there a way to make changes to my 64-bit Vista to accept 32-bit software such as anitvirus software, etc.?
