Lightbulb recovering related items bar...

hello everyone, i have a great question, the other day, my dad somehow removed that bar on the left side of the screen that you get in "my computer", my network places, etc. you know the bar that will give you shortcuts to other places and in network places it lets you view workgroup computers etc.

well i wanted to know if any of you know how to recover this wonderful bar because ive been tinkering forever to figure it out but just can't quite get there

thanks a lot

Hmm... I'm guessing that you had a toolbar that displayed your desktop icons.
To get this back:
1) Right click the taskbar [AKA "start bar"]. Make sure that "Lock the taskbar" is unchecked, and then go to Toolbars > Desktop.
2) After clicking on it, the desktop toolbar will appear on your taskbar. To dock it to one side of the screen, double click the dotted "pad" area on it, and drag it around the screen. Hold it to the side of the screen for a few seconds and it will dock.
3) If you want to make it stay on top of all other windows, right click the title of it and select "Stay on top".
