| Hmm - have the icons on your desktop also disappeared or are they still there? This is very likely to be either caused by the Windows shell not loading, or simply the taskbar being moved to the bottom of the screen and locked so you can't see it.

| It's very likely the taskbar is just at the very bottom of the screen - just to verify that everything else is fine - press CTRL+Esc [or the Windows Logo key, if your keyboard has one]. If the start menu appears, then move your mouse to the very bottom of your screen, hold down the left button [or right if your mouse is in a left-handed configuration] and drag the taskbar up. It may take a few tries, when you see an arrow cursor your mouse is over the right spot.

| Do you have a Windows Logo key on your keyboard which you can press?

| Usually, it is the key on the bottom, between Ctrl and Alt, but not all keyboards have one.

| Well, holding down Ctrl then pressing Esc should bring up the start menu. If not, use Ctrl+Alt+Del and New Task, and type explorer.exe in the box. This should hopefully bring it back.
