So far, the only benefit i see coming from Vista is added security. And that is a large enough assumption in itself.

Btw, is there really a phenomenal threat with viruses anymore? imo, no, only adware which can be easily prevented through your activity on the net. And if the worst happens, there are many easy ways to get rid of it.

But it does look cool...

So does WindowsBlinds. The fancy new graphics require 256mb of video RAM - otherwise it will use your main system RAM to make it 256mb.

I tried Vista out, and the "extra security" proved to be annoying. Maybe someone who is new to computing will enjoy the security benefits, but everything Vista does, I can do on XP with additional programs, or on Linux without paying anything at all.

I would never buy vista.
I tried out the beta and since my computer only had 256 Mb of shared memory my mouse jurked over the screen.

The only time I will get vista is when I buy a new computer that come with it.
That will be in about 2 years.

Well looks like im the only person that has said yes.
I was updating and i didn't see the point in buying XP then having to update later.
I can Honestly say i have had no major problems apart from driver issues which i sorted and since then its been smoth sailing.

one annoying thing which i hope theres a way to switch off, as guyladouche said u get those annoying popups (when you modify the system or install new software) asking for your permission do to something, of course your going to click 'allow'.
All that will do is scare people who don't know much about computers trying to install software because they think their doing something wrong.
Apart from that im happy with my Vista

I got ultimate the second day it came out (Didnt buy it though, a friend at MS gave it to me, I remember he said 'Use at you own Risk!' - I thought nothing of this!' But the third day (I think) Of having it on, and having to wait damn-well ages for everything. I got a little messge at the bottom saying 'Warning: Windows has Corrected a possible Virus Threat.' I thought "Ohh good. Thats good", then a little while later my Anti-Virus said: '3 Viruses Detected' - And about a day later, boom. Computer just wouldnt start. So not only was the OS messed up, but also it freaked all my Hard Drive and CD drive (:S) - So, I wasnt very happy... I told me friend at MS and he said 'Well, told ya.' Damn thing.
But, it's all good now. Back to XP and Mac.

Kirk.
