| ok, if you aren't a advanced user i would recommend the Start > control panel > add remove apps > windows components > deselect windows messenger and then click next method, rather than messing around in the file system as this could produce errors, although if you know what your doing, go ahead.

| Removing it with the "easy" method will stop it starting up with your computer and it's not going to mess anything up, but the files will still be on your computer - so if you're trying to get every last megabyte out of your hard drive then this is recommended - as long as you know what you are doing.
