Default Unremovable programs W2K

Well I had Autocad installed on my computer. I had both 2007 and 2006. I removed 2006 using what appeared to be a highly recommended uninstaller. It did remove 2006 and I realized it also removed 2007 or at least most of the files. When I refreshed this uninstaller I could not see any version of Autocad listed. I deleted all remaining traces by deleteing the remaining partial folders. Oh Oh...I looked at the windows program remove and discovered that 2007 was still listed however I could not remove it at all. So now I cannot remove the remianing enities from the registry when I used Regedit and I can no longer reinstall autocad. Help....my e-mail address is <removed> ....any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Hi there and welcome to CompuForums! I hope that you continue to visit us, even when your problem has fixed.

Have you tried removing everything in Safe Mode? When starting your computer, press and hold F8 when your computer has just finished BIOS [usually the logo of the maker of your computer appears during this]. It may take a few tries, but when the Windows Boot Menu comes up, select Safe Mode.
When in safe mode, your computer's monitor will not display all the colours, and it's resolution will be low. Other devices such as audio and printers may not work during safe mode - this is normal.

Try deleting everything in safe mode then reboot your computer. Let us know if this fixes it or not, and if not, we will look into other fixes.

You might want to try a program called CrapCleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Click on Tools from the main window, then Uninstall. Remove all traces of the program, and let us know if this fixes it.

I have heard of the program and I have used it. It does have a good uninstaller but my problem is that the enities in the registry belonging to the parent program cannot be removed physically using regedit and the parent program itself still shows up in the Windows prgram uninstall dialog box. When you highlight the program in the uninstall dialog box it gives no option of being removed. The other uninstaller I am using which is rated pretty high does not show the program.I will try CrapCleaner and see if it helps. I will let you know. I do appreciate your assistance...

It's no problem, we're here to help
CrapCleaner has a "Remove Entry" button which removes the program from the registry.
Also we appreciate it if members, after their problems are fixed, come back every now again and post in the other topics

Was the Autocad 2007 an upgrade from Autocad 2006 or a full new install?

Both were full installs. 2007 was there first and then I installed 2006. I decided to remove 2006. As I stated earlier when I used a non windows uninstaller it did too good of a job..it hit both 2007 and 2006. When I noticed the files in the 2007 directory gone except for those few that seem to hang around after removal I deleted the directory only to discover that 2007 was still showing up in the registry and in the windows add/remove program. I have approximately 7 registry entries that will not delete through regedit. I cannot remove 2007 using the windows program removal. 2006 seems to be completely gone.

I have not tried that. I am trying to think whether the cd offers you a option to uninstall or repair from the cd. I will try that to see what happens...I will get back to all tomorrow with the answer..if there are any other ideas send them my way..thanks
