Default do ya ever wanna throw your puter out the window?

Hi my name is linda...i am new to this computer stuff.

I wanna throw mine out the window...it has a worm...and i never did like fishing and worms with their guts and stuff, but i especially dont like them in my computer.

So if i may ask a question about the worm sdbot.21500 it has gotten into my antivirus protection itself, and i cant figure out how to delete the virus protection program. It won't let me remove it. Is manually removing it the only way how?

I hope i can ask that here...please noone yell at me...im a kind gentle soul...with no patience for computers...lol...

Hi there and welcome to CompuForums! Be sure to visit us often and post in other topics.

I have moved this thread to here as the introductions forum is for only introducing yourself. We like to keep things organised

Secondly, if your antivirus has been taken over, you may want to try this online virus scanner:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I have used it myself and it's very efficient.

Also if you work out which files are infected with your exisiting virus checker then you can reboot windows into safe mode. You can do this in Windows XP by holding F8 during bootup. You can then delete the files, however be careful as deleting the wrong files could cause problems.

And Welcome to CompuForums, I am a moderator, if you need any help using the site just ask.

No! You repeatedly press F8, not hold it down.

I think either works, give both of the keystrokes a try.

Hi Linda, nice to meet you. I'm new to this forum but not to computers though. A few other suggestions that might help are to try running some anti-spyware applications. It's possibly you have some bad form of spyware on your system that is preventing the virus from being removed. I suggest Ad-Aware (lavasoftusa.com), Spybot (safer-networking.org) and even CCleaner (ccleaner.com). CCleaner is not an anti-spyware program but it will help to clean things up. It also has a feature that allows you to uninstall programs similar to using Add/Remove Programs.

Make sure to return and let us know how some of these suggestions have worked out. Good luck!
