Hey, I am building a site for a guy that belongs to my model RR club, I have the basic's built just waiting for him to get me the text. But I have the link bar, and the top of the page with fill effects, its saved but when i open it with firefox, the fill effects dont show up what is wrong? I am using Microsoft Frontpage, if someone wants to look them selves i will send you the document. Mike

I believe you stated why you are having problems. You are using a MS program (frontpage), and it works in a MS browser, but not in a non-MS browser.

IE does not hold to all the standards set by the standard agencies. And their program will make things work best with MS browsers. Why should they not??

The good thing is that you tested it in more than one browser, this is important. Personally, I think Word, Excel, FrontPage and Publisher all add a LOT of trash in the code that increase the file size unnecessarily. I work on the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) The more things you add, the more there is opportunity for errors. But that is me.

If you need an IDE (integrated development environment) you could pay for Dreamweaver, or get a free one like NVu. Others here can give you some good (okay much better) tips than me, and I'm sure could even debug the page code for you and make it work.

As Thaylok mentioned, Frontpage designs sites for IE. Nvu is an excellent alternative, but it hasn't been developed since 2005. You might want to try Kompozer, based on Nvu.
KompoZer - Easy web authoring
The code it generates is generally clean and cross-browser compatible, as it follows standards.

I wasn't trying to sound rude, I apologize if it came across that way. (with my first sentence)

Hmm, i've not used Kompozer, I've used Quanta Plus, but there are no windows binaries for it that I have found. I'll test it too, and see how well it does Thanks Ash.

I find that the Windows version runs fine. However, IIRC there's no installer included - you just download and unzip the folder and run kompozer.exe.

U can use use Front Page but you try to configure ur webpage by using a CSS file which will be helpful for u and will also be similar to the Web 2.0 standards.
