Default web site image security

Hi, I've developed a web site with images - however if anyone views the web site, they can right click , and obtain info by selecting copy image target etc, which contains info like my no-ip hostname and the directory where the image is stored. Does anyone know how to disable this feature?

Thanks

Hi again adami,

Welcome back to the forum - I hope to see you here more often in the future! Remember, if you only ever come here with questions, then the community will be unable to help you, so please post in some other topics as well as your own.

You shouldn't be worried about this - if someone wants to attack your site they can easily get this info anyway. However if you would like, I can run a security audit on your server. PM me the link.

You can disable right clicking in Javascript for Internet Explorer, but it won't work on Firefox or Opera. If people really want your information, the can just view your source to find direct urls to images. Best thing is to

a)Turn on hot link protection
b)Watermark your images

You'd probably want to use AJAX to achieve this. AJAX will retrieve the object without letting the user know it's location (even if the user will check the source). After, you just disable right mouse click and that's it!

What is the best way to watermark an image? Is photoshop the best, or is there something else that can watermark easier?

As long as the watermark isn't easily erasable, any watermark will do. It's probably quickest in your favourite image app, while you are still making/fixing up the image.
