| Hi everyone, I'm new to web development, but I have what will probably seem a trivial problem. I have a web server (dynamic ip - but use a no-ip hostname to track my ip address). I have a domain name eg "www.web.co.uk" and have used web forwarding (Framed web-forwarding). URL to forward website for "web.co.uk" to: "http://hostname.no-ip.info/web/home.asp" So far so good, So when I type in the domain name into the browser ie "www.web.co.uk", it picks up my home.asp bit, but does not extend the name in the address bar to include the home.asp (ie "www.web.co.uk/home.asp"). And when I click on a contact us link, I want it to display "www.web.co.uk/contactus.asp". Instead it remains as "www.web.co.uk", and when I click on refresh, it refreshes back to the home.asp, again only displaying "http://www.web.co.uk" So my question is, how do I achieve this? - sorry I know its probably trivial, but I am new to this. |

| I use a free Dynamic DNS service (DynDNS -- Dynamic DNS, E-Mail Delivery and Other Services) In conjunction with a free client the free service re-routes any web traffic to my server. There are a lot of choices for DNS entries, I personally chose .is-a-geek.net and my "server/machine/account" is thaylok, for a URL The K. Chambers Family (home server). Now, my client updates the service with a new IP address when needed and I get my Domain Name the way I like it. Yes, you may have multiple Domain Names tied to one account. Additionally, you can denote if the server is a mail exchange. This is only one service, I'm sure you can find more (and more appropriate to your locale). Now, were you to go to my site, you will only see the DN as I established with the server. Does that help with your question? |
