Well, its 2am here, and I'm suffering from Jetlag, so lets see if I get all this right.

Firstly, welcome to CompuForums. I hope to see you around, instead of you just taking our help and leaving, which is rude, especially to the people that help you. We want our members to offer advice as well as just take it, but if you can't help, please feel free to post in the lounge.
Thanks for becoming a valued member of our community.

For webhosting, this depends if you already have a page/site made and just want to bput it on the net. If so,

AWARDSPACE.COM - Free Web Hosting, Domain Hosting, Professional Web Hosting, Domain registration, Affordable, Reseller Program, PHP, MySQL, Ecommerce is a great host, and
http://fr33hosting.com/ is also OK.

If you don't have any HTML knowledge, and would like an easy to use site editor, use
Freewebs.com - Free website, free hosting, free webpage, online photo album, free blog, more!

I recommend having HTML and CSS knowledge when building a website, as freewebs sites often look repetitive and bland.

Hope that helps,

BP

You may also be interested in WebNG.com

I've been with WebNG for a year now, and used them to get my business website started. Free hosting on Windows 2003 Server servers, no banner ads, no forced nothing. They don't host PHP or MySQL. However, they do allow file sizes up to 25MB. You start at 10GB month of bandwidth and file storage.

Matter of fact, all the images I post here art CompuForums are hosted in my account at WebNG.com

There is no obligation, you can close you account at any time, and ... this site is so free that you can't even purchase more disk space or bandwidth if you begged them to. You can create as many accounts as you like, though.

Check them out, and give it a try.

Awardspace has no forced ads either, and allows PHP, MYSQL and even ASP I think.

Or you could search for the things you need in a free webhost:

free web hosting - search for free website providers

I have an account with Awardspace, and it is good -- being that it's free and they don't force ads in your pages. However, they have a Mod that banns certain words from being published. I can't think of the exact name of the Mod, but I know they have it because I've experienced it.

Anyhow, you can't publish words such as "proxy" and other technical realeted terms in a database (such as mySQL) that's being hosted by awardspace.. This is a big problem with Awardspace.

Yes, forbidden words mod. I had problems when I hosted a proxy on awardspace....

Now, I just use it for testing my sites. I'm learning PHP at the moment though

So I will soon be able to make my own proxy.....

fr33webhost is pretty good, with only 1 text ad on the very bottom of your page, hardly noticeable.

I have no idea what else to say

Free webhosting is possible, just google it and youll find loads of free services, however these are advert supported so ads will appear on your websites, and you won't have many features such as interactive scripting.

Payed hosting is alot more proffesional and can make a much better site, it is also very affordable. Check out AshServ for an example.

Try VPhost - I've hosted free with them in the past. I believe the URL is vphost.net, but if not, you should be able to find them on Google. At the time [around 2005], they didn't require any ads. But if you want reliable ad-free hosting, you will need to consider a paid host. I wouldn't recommend the host CompuForums is on, but I'm sticking with them until my year is up, and hoping that they improve.

Personally, I would go with 50Webs or WebNG. I've used them both, and they're both 5-star. I don't have any experience with VPHosts, but have herd of them.

VPHost is very good, cpanel etc... but it was very up and down with uptime, but generally wasn't too bad.

Your websites are okay, but Tripod kills them. Sure, you may only have 20mb of disk space but if you need more than that you can try fileUPYOURS.

I have some knowledge of HTML but I still use Freewebs. And yes it does get repetitive, it's a good start.
