Default MySql Syntax Problem

Quote:
SQL query:

ALTER TABLE `uwboards_users` ADD money int NOT NULL default

MySQL said:

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1
Let me explain:
I am using MyBB. When I went to unactivate a plugin, it told me that it couldn't delete the "money" column. So, I tried to add the column and the process would work. However, I get the error message above. I am very new to MySql and this is my first time actually deeply delving into phpMyAdmin. Thanks.

Wink mySQL

Hi. Thanks for the post. Good question. I would need just a little more info than what you've described.

1. What version of mySQL are you using?
2. What version of MyPHPAdmin are you using?
3. What version on myBB do you have installed?

Generally, to un-install or remove a MOD, you need to start from the Admin panel in myBB. After all entries have been disabled/removed from there (referring to the MOD), you reverse the steps from the MOD-install instructions. This would include any PHP pages you edited with < -- FIND -- > < -- REPLACE -- >. Then you remove the MOD entry from mySQL.

NOTE: BACKUP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES. This way, if you screw it up, you can easily restore it.

You also need to delete any additional pages/directories that were added to your directories -- if any -- referring to the MOD.

I'm not a mySQL expert. This is only my personal experience with phpBB 2.0.22 -- mySQL can be intimidating to beginners. I have screwed up so many databases in my learning process - but I did learn it. If you are truly interested in database-drive websites, I would recommend you start reading up and studying mySQL syntax and beginner guides.

When I have had mySQL errors in my Admin panel due to a MOD I removed or installed improperly, I reversed the install steps, and re-installed. After I re-installed, and the MOD works perfect, then I would once again uninstall the MOD.

Was this helpful? Give it a try.

Default

Mysql = 5.0.37-standard
PhpMyAdmin = 2.10.0.2
MyBB = 1.2.7

I didn't do any manual editing for this mod. I have backed up my database.

Everything seems to be working now. Here's how I did it:
I noticed that it wasn't giving me all the fields that it couldn't delete, so I opened the file and saw that there were seven fields it was trying to delete. I added them all using a suggestion on another board, and it deactivated successfully. Thanks for helping me and providing a professional response.
