Default [SOLVED] HTML or PHP help needed

I have a fairly god knowledge of HTML, but have never made a website with it, and I don't know PHP at all.

I am younger than everyone else here, and I do like Pokemon.
I am making a Pokemon Website to organize trades, and don't really know what to do with the following part:

Imagine Ebay, ok, I want something like that. I haven't attempted anything difficult yet, all I've done is this:

dredgenet.awardspace.biz (ignore the empty numbers at top)

What I want is:
If the "Deposit Pokemon" option is selected, and you then select the Pokemon you want to trade, it will then open another page that will ask you to input: Level, Gender, Nature and 4 Attacks. When you submit it adds it to the listing page.

If the "Seek Pokemon" Option is selected, it will automatically go find all Pokemon of that name for Trade, when the submit button is pressed.

I have no idea what I'm doing, so I need this coded for me, or fell free to make demo pages, I'll just copy the source.
Could someone please fix the numbers displayed randomly on the page? I was going to have a search by number table, but it got too complicated. Also,`why isn't my option box showing up?

A good log in/register code would be helpful to.

Thanks a ton, and you will receive a major thanks on the site when its done,
BP

Hi Blueparukia,
First of your problems is your ambition.....sounds like you want an online searchable database that is linked to PHP forms. OK easy in principle, but you got to build te DB first, then make sure the PHP pages are correct and linked to it properly. This could involve utilising search queries or somehow incorporating the DB into the website itself. Either way expect a lot of work.

IM wont, and i dont think the others here, will write this for you, there are too many variables to consider to get close. BUT i will give you some pointers ..

If you are going to use PHP then think of the programming as an advance level of HTML, this will take you leaps in the right direction. The Stylesheet.css is where the most magic happens in a PHP site, although you will need to sort out the coding on the other pages.

I'l help you out with coding if i can, but believe me when i say if you crack this one yourself, you will feel like you could walk on the moon with one step. Good luck

I've got most of it worked out, and a friend is helping me with the rest, I should have it done in a week or two, but won't publicly release it for about a month

Good Luck with your project, If I wasn't doing so much exam revision now I would help out a bit, although its a pretty big job, especially all the database work.

I need some REALLY basic help. I have Nav Bar buttons, going down the left side, right.

Well, they are not aligned. They're all the same size, and I want the top of one touching the bottom of the other and so forth, I have six buttons I think. I also want them so they are all perfectly aligned together on the left side.

Hi there Blue,

The easiest way to do this is to edit the /includes/column_left.php sheet, or the /includes/boxes.php (assuming thats the sheet you used to place the boxes!) on that sheet there will be a table coded, it wll look pretty much the same as a HTML table, rearrange the cell spacing on this table and it should align the boxes the way you want them.

Afraid im not at my own pc so i cant get a screen shot of a working table for you reference as i cant remember the addy sorry

I fixed this the other day..should have posted.
I just set them out in the coding the way I wanted and just used <pre> tags, to make them show as was typed.

Thanks for your reply, this is the first time I've actually used dreamweaver to make a proper site, so its a learning curve for me.
Josh

I've just taught myself, Ajax and JAVAscript, and am currently developing an application, which may be able to be used on this site.
You type in a code e.g <marquee>CompuForums Rock!!!!!</marquee> and press the submit button, and when the page refreshes it actually loads that Marquee.

When I'm done, it should test nearly every webpage development language - HTML, PHP, Java, AJAX, SQL, Python etc.
Its nearly done, just making it recognize Frink and Perl, then I'll see if its possible to even have SuperCollider and RGSS in there, just in case.

Hmm... great idea! Would be useful as a code testing base. If you want, I can host it here.

well, I would, but my friend Sam paid me $50 for the script and redid it in Perl.
(He was making a site for testing PHP codes, thats why II originally made it - I thought he'd given up)
So anyway, the site is up and hosted, and was due for public release about an hour ago.
So I'll post the link tomorrow

Well, I'm posting past the lock to say "It's finished" took longer than I thought, but me and a belgian coder got together, and together we did it in 2 hours He made a great feature for adding the sprites, where you just choose the Pokemon and then type its number, and it will automatically add to the database using the Image Url (imgurl.com/spritenumberxxx)..

So yeah, its finished, and I am definetly happy. I am fine tweaking it now, maybe sme Ajax lol....
