I keep getting this message from AVG, it doesn't say anything about AVG 8.5 being free. if I click (Install Now) will I be fooled into paying for something I don't want ?

The message is from AVG Free. Clicking on the install will download 8.5 Free. They don't have your name, address or credit card so you can't be charged.

It just means that they are going to stop providing support and virus updates for AVG 7.5 so you need to upgrade to the newest version. AVG is not a very good Antivirus solution - it slows down your computer a lot. I suggest using Avira Antivirus

AVG does not slow your computer down when the program is idle. It may lag a little when scanning though.

Avira still scans a lot quicker than AVG. Everyone I know who has AVG complains how slow their computer is once they installed AVG.

I've never had any problem with AVG except for slowing my flight sim if it comes on to do a scan.

The older versions of AVG were quite slow and generally not great at picking up viruses, but they have certainly been improving the product since version 8.0.

I have AVG 8.5 and I have to delete spyware everyday. Some of it is the same spyware that I deleted the day before. I think I am going to try Avasti.
