Yes, but then it runs the possibility of slowing down the PC when the user wants to use it. That leads to complaints.
There are ways around this. For example, set the BIOS to start the PC at say,6am every morning, and schedule the scans for 6:15 or so. Then the computer is ready by 6:45-7 and she won't even notice that scan is going on.
Adjust the time to work with her schedule.

I'm using avast antivirus on my laptop and i prefer that 4 your aunt too.Quite easy to update and run.
