Default Newbie, weird question.

I was wondering....when I am online....esp when viewing a video online such as a TV show....I constantly hear a "click" much like the click you hear when you hit your browsers back button, or click to open a new screen, tab, etc. Is this another computer controlling mine, doing some phishing, etc etc. Is my computer doing nasty work for a trojan or something while I am doing other stuff on the net?

Hello dokhogg,
Firstly - welcome to CompuForums. We provide our computer help for free, so we would highly appreciate it if you could help us. You can do this by answering other people's questions, or if you are not so technically-minded, post in our general lounge forum. Alternatively you can purchase a premium membership to help contribute to the rising running costs of this site. If you can't help us then we can't help you. This system allows us to continue to provide free computer support.

This is a built-in feature of Internet Explorer. You can turn it off by doing the following steps:
1) Click Start, Run.
2) Type in 'control sounds' without quotes and hit enter.
3) From the tabs across the top, select "Sounds."
4) Scroll down and you'll find a category called "Windows Explorer." The last item under this heading is "Start Navigation." Click this to highlight it.
5) In the box just below this, called "Sounds," open the pop-up menu and scroll to the top to choose (None).
6) Click the "OK" button to close the dialog window.

Alternativley...

You can switch to Firefox. More secure and faster than IE, and the upcoming version is really fast and efficient. You can get your free copy from here:
Get Firefox
It comes without the annoying click.

Another thing you might want to do is download the firefox browser and use that instead of internet explorer, it's a little more user friendly, less likely to get spyware and viruses since it is not windows based. The best part about it though is that it is completely free. heres the link: Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client
