What prompted you to go looking for this software? a message stating that this specific software will fix a problem you didn't know you had?

Do not touch this, I bet "Thaylok" is right about how you came about this! Best to stick to well know anti-virus software, hey there are even free ones, but im sure you know that. In my opinion AVG is the best free option.

Have you given Avast a test yet on a machine that's previously been running AVG?

I would suggest doing this. I spent quite some time a few months back setting up a few virtual machines, copying some viruses onto them [on a Linux host machine, of course] and running the scans. Avast picked up the most by far. I think AVG came third. I should've done a writeup about that...

RUKIO it really sounds like your problem is adware my friend. I think your pc is infected with adware not a virus. Try downloading some antispyware/adware you could try ad-aware from lavasoft which is free or download spybot search and destroy. Im sure once you have done this these irritating pop ups will dissapear.

Default Try this

I would suggest using spybot search and destroy, this will scan and remove anything that should not be there. Once scan has completed it gives you the option to remove any adware or spyware it has detected. It does take quite sometime to scan but i have found the results to be good. One thing to bear in mind is that some freeware softwares bundle adware with there free software and if you remove this then the program you downloaded may no longer work. This should rectify your problem with bogus virus warnings. I dont think we are aloud to write URL's here so if you just google spybot you should find it. Let me know how you get on and if you need more advice please ask.

Don't use any of the products advertised in the products, they may remove the product, but only if you purchase the product (or rather a subscription).

There are ways to remove the problem, but to help get the best options, can you tell me what you did/were doing when the problem first occurred? Did you open an e-card? Follow a flashing ad on a web page? receive a network-message? And do you remember the text of the email/ad/message? That will help find the right problem.

Some of these malwares are very VERY well human engineered to look authentic. Even I have been very convinced. It takes several good looks to spot where the problems will arise.

As to which programs to use. Every program has its niche. They catch a lot of problems of type A, but miss some type B and C. This is true of virus scanners and of malware scanners. AVG misses some things that Avast catches, Norton will catch others, and McAfee still others. Spybot S&D is the same. it catches most, but not ALL.

Basically, my point here is: Don't put all of your eggs in one basket!

Sounds like your a bit click happy.

Check what outgoing connections you have, and ensure your common apps are not being hooked by a bot.

Also do a scan from a web scanner - trendmicro provide a fairly good remote virii scanner.

If you find the exe's to be bots/trojans try and get the EXE, run it in anubis malware analyzer ( google fools ) and you will be able to track the botnet down.

Also take note that data on your box has been comprimised, change email, bank, chat or *ALL* passwords that are of profile ASAP.
