If people like those two knuckleheads have attitudes and believe that they know everything come to sites and just think they have the right to be on it? Anybody who joins a site or forum must know that being on the site is not a right, but a privalige. They need to act smarter and not piss people off

reformating your HD is a last resort. but then if you'll find a way to heal your system then why not? always have a good AV, an anti-spyware and a firewall. have them scheduled for update atleast once a week. if again you have a trouble in viruses, try posting the exact error and the name of the virus. also you can search the virus info in the website of your AV.

Because free or paid, McaFee software is still very poor at detecting threats and very good at bogging down your computer.

avast has worked wonders for me. and i apologize ahead of time, sorry for the redundancy, but what exactly would a system restore do? don't all files stay in tact in a system restore? i know that programs are uninstalled that were installed after said date, but wouldnt a virus still linger?

i apologize for anything ridiculously stupid in that question, but unlike you guys i havnt done my research in this specific area. (i know i know, i should have)

It's simple - the viruses embed themselves in the system restore files and then when you restore your system, the viruses appear to. The best thing to do is just back up your documents and keep copies of a fresh OS install and drivers handy.

Been reading this thread for a bit.

Was wondering.... archivedbyte mentioned trojankill. Anybody know anything about this? When I clicked on it... it wanted to download immediately... so I just saved it. I don't download anything I can't read about first.
