Default Best Anti Virus/ Firewall

I was wondering what you all thought was the best anti virus and firewall? What I mean is what has the best protection and uses the least amount of resources?

Linux.

Well if you must use Windows... I'd suggest Avast Home and Comodo Firewall.

What sort of wireless card are you using, and what Distro?
It's probably possible to get it working, even if you need to use ndiswrapper.

NOD32 is really good. Not only it updates every day, but also it scans your computer while you're working and almost not consuming resources at all. I've been using it for an year now and I'm really happy about it.

It's good in terms of protection, but it also rapes your computer in some cases (although mine was the only one I've seen it do it on).

The great thing about NOD32 is not only is it effective but it doesn't really slow your computer down all that much while it's running.

I was told to use AVG anit-virus by a guy at my local computer repair shop. I haven't had any problems with it, but on the other hand I don't think it has ever detected a virus on my computer. I don't know if there just isn't any or if the program doesn't find them! So should I change anti-virus software?

Welcome back - I hope we'll be seeing you more often in the future
Give another program a try, like Avast - if you go for Avast, set it to do a boottime scan. Let the new program do a scan [make sure the old one is uninstalled first] and see if you find any viruses.

I enjoy the Avast / Zone alarm combo. Avast is excellent at catching viruses before they get in, and zone alarm is good at stopping anything that sneaks passed. It's also great that they're both free

Thumbs up

You guys were right! I changed to Avast and it has caught stuff that AVG never did find. Thank you for the idea of switching to it!
