yea it could be that or maybe your batteries are just low, if its a wireless. but if not, then just try unpluggin it and plugging it back in. whenever my mouse does that, i just unplug and plug back in and its fine. and ya i wouldnt suggest optical, they arent good for thier prices, try getting a wireless one, they function better nowadays and they take up almost no battery. But make sure you dont get a Kensington model. you will be extremely displeased. i have one and i chicked it in like 3 weeks cuz it wouldnt stop sucking

As Ash says, it does just that, it's annoying, so here's what I do, I move the pointer right to the very top of the screen so it's actually out of sight, & stays there, it works every time!!

I am looking to change my security system, especially after my son told me that Norton could be slowing my system down. Something certainly is.
I have Norton Internet Security, Registry Helper, C-cleaner and Spybot and I believe there is something in the XP system as well. Whenever you try a system out that offers a free scan it always reads that your system is full of bugs and cr*p. Do they all do that to make you buy them or are some actually finding faults on your system.
Would it be possible to run a full scan with Norton and then ,while still keeping Norton online, run a scan with that system that Ash was on about. To check Norton out?

Personally I prefer AVG free, it automatically scans every day, I installed it five years ago & it's never let me down, [I have XP Home] I also run Spy bot & AD-aware 6.0

But can i run a scan with another AV with Norton still installed? I have just run a scan with Registry Helper and "cleaned" system. I then ran a scan with Regcure from off of here and it picked up 871 errors. Is there a good free Registry cleaner?

I suggest that you use the following software for security. Apart from anti spyware software, you should generally only have one app running of each. All of these apps are free:
Antivirus: Avast Antivirus Home Edition
Firewall: Comodo Personal Firewall
Registry Cleaner / system cleanup: CCleaner.

I have downloaded Avast Home but seem to have got a demo type. It says Time Limited DEMO License (load of numbers) (59 Days Left) Avast! v4.7 Home Edition.
Should I uninstall this and try again?

Thank you Justin. Have finally got Avast and Comodo loaded. It seems faster already, or is that just me.

well it seems to be that norton was your problem but it could be other things too. just remember that with norton you need to completely uninstall and delete all its files becuase norton itself can be spyware. that also includes the setup file that you had to set it up b/c uninstalling wont delete setup files. also, if you want to be sure that your systm is clean dont just run ONE AV. try some other AVs b/c most of the time they catch different things. try using ZoneAlarm and ESET NOD32. these are all very efficient AVs and firewalls. just remember to have only one running at once, if you have multiple running it could cause damage and it could cancel eachother out.

Good Luck!

The thing with NOD32 is that it's paid software, and ZoneAlarm loves to lag up computers.

I have seen ZoneAlarm taking care of the unnecessary lag yes, but i have used it for a while for bridging in Halo2 and after it boots up it is fine. But for NOD32, i love using it because i think its the most thorough AV scanner. But the one i use, hasn't asked me for a liscence since 2 months ago. I dont know maybe its a glitch, but even past the maybe "Lag" and the paid software, i think these are 2 extremely useful and most efficient Applicatons
