Question Spying and monitoring software help.

Hello, I have a burning question!

How can I know if someone is remotely monitoring my PC? I have no idea how spy software works (also called keyloggers I think), and in fact I just recently learned of their existence. You know, that software tha schools use to monitor the students activities, or that people use to check what their spouses or kids are doing. I think there's one called 007 Spy Software... I have no idea how they operate, but I know they can even take screenshots of what you're doing! It's not like typical spyware I think, because people have to install them on your machine to monitor you and it's usually people you know... (like these programs).

How can I know if someone is spying me and violating my privacy? Because it's not like it happened at the uni or at work (I don't have a job lol), but at home, by a friend... how can I know if he has somehow managed to get access to my PC and track the sites I'm visiting or whatever else I'm doing? I can't just plain ask him, but the other day while we were on IM he said something suspicious to me...

He: What are you doing?
Me: Nothing, why?
He: Just saying...
Me: Lol, what am I being accused of?
He: Checking out weird websites (I was checking a CRPG History website, which to him could be very weird indeed!)
Me: What are you doing?
He: Nothing...
Me: No, really, what are you doing?
He: Snooping...
Me: Really? Are you spying me?
He: No... I'm just playing with you.

So, how can I know wether or not I'm being spied...? How can I get rid of this stuff? How do these software work? How could he have gained access to my PC? I just need to know if I'm being paranoid or if I could actually know if he was actually snooping... and if can just access from my MSN? I also read some of these software aren't blocked by anti-viruses nor firewalls... is this true? I just need all the info I can on spy software and how to prevent/get rid of them.

Thanks, help will be appreciated!

well, if ur refering only to keyloggers, then ill tell u what i know
There are two types, programs and ones like this so you should check ur keyboard cable. There is also software so you could try to look at ur program files. Unfortunately those types of programs could be easily hidden.

What antivirus are u using?

Really my recommendation is to talk to DB, he knows much more about internet security
