AVG does good... but its best when paired with AVAST antivirus for dual layer protection

what about Zone Alarm. I've heard it's good and that there's a free version. How does it compare to Avast or AVG ?

Zone alarm is a firewall as far as I know.

ZA is a firewall. I use it, but honestly I am not sure how well it works. I still occasionally get trojans, but AVG(the antivirus I use) finds em.

ZA by itself won't protect you from virus'. You would need to buy the suite which includes a virus scanner as well as the firewall. ZA is an application based firewall. And since you allow all traffic through the web browser, it will let anything in (or out) through those open ports (doors if you like). But do not expect it to protect you from any virus coming or going through your email (even with mail safe running) or web browser or Instant Messenger.

For paid AV, you won't see anything better than NOD32. However I just use Avast on my Window$ machines and virtual boxes.

??

wow those are some pretty lips

AVG worked well for me. before that i had norton, and i would have to say avg is way better. never tried avast. ash antivirus/spyware have enough pop ups for me, like asking about things and so forth. im sure you all know what i mean. since you have avast AND avg dont you get a few more prompts on blocking things?

I just run Avast, running 2 at once is a bad idea.

Avast also "just works" - except that you don't need to even manually upgrade the program between programs and it monitors your internet connection to stop a virus from being stored to your hard drive if it is part of a file you are downloading. I suggest that you all try it and see why I stopped using AVG years ago

I also run Avast after switching from AVG after seeing negative posts about AVG. Im also running Norton that came came with the laptop. Norton expires after 3 months and thats when Im going to uninstall it. I also thought of installing AVG Spyware(i think its called) and run it alongside Avast.
