Default Firewall settings

How can I set the firewall settings or other methods, so that I do not have shared folders with other people on my wireless network? (i.e. I do not want to get a virus from other computers on my network that are infected)

Are you discussing your work PC, or your home network?
I assume you mean work. If so, consider that your IT department may very well have network/PC policies in place which enforce available shares, thereby making your question moot. Additionally, there may be written policies which may disallow preventing access to your computer. It is best to check for any written and electronic company policies before changing your PC's firewall.

Next, What Operating system are you using? (flavor and version) Are you using a 3rd party firewall?
In my personal experience, personal firewalls like Zonealarm are great, however, many network features I use at work are severely affected (read: Didn't Work) when using this software. Installing software on your work PC may also be disallowed, again check your company policies.

I was actually talking about a home network. I have Windows XP as my OS and am currently using Windows default firewall. Any suggestions.

My suggestion would to not rely on the Windows Firewall. You might as well not bother with any firewall at all....

I'm going to try comodo, but what sort of settings should I have? Is there something special to keep me from sharing a folder with others on my home wireless network?

Are you trying to ensure that nobody can access a certain folder on your computer, or do you simply want to stop any files on your machine from being shared?
