Avast Antivirus

Is it as good as antivirus programs you have to pay for?

On another note, I had pest patrol before and it seemed to catch alot. is it considered good?

I'd say that Avast is pretty much the best product you can get [free or paid] and it certainly beats the rest of the free ones!

I personally use Windows Defender, but I suggest using more than one app - unlike antivirus, antispyware is very unlikely to cause conflicts if you have two different programs on your system.

Yep, or you can uninstall it [free software is just as good, if not better, than most paid software]

Is Avast better than AVG? And does it like always give you messages and things poping-up in th corner etc?? - I like AVG as the only thing that comes up is the Update Box...

So yeah!

Yes in my opinion Avast is a lot better then AVG I have used both and found Avast found more viruses and trogans then AVG.

AVG sucks. Even the professional version isn't very good, hard to use, complicated and apparently doesn't catch many threats compared to others.

I've heard Avast is good, but haven't tried it yet. I still run NAV (norton antivirus), which sucks, but I'm a creature of habit.

All I can suggest if you can give it a try. If you like it, great! Keep on using it. If not , just uninstall it.
And be sure to report your experience back to us!

since i installed avast at Christmas 2006 i have had no problems nothing has entered my system, it easy to use and once installed and set up you can just forget about it, the only downside is that you have to register every 12 months.
