| I have just got a new pc. i have now finished installing xp proand updated everything security and program wise. when usin IE7 i cannot seem to change my homepage to yahoo uk. i was wondering if anybody could tell me how to get round this. i have tried changind it in internet options, and i have also tried the "make yahoo your homepage" link. still no joy. i have spybot, adaware se pro and norton antivirus as my main security progs. i am running exactly the same setup on my other pc (apart from only having xp home) and that is fine. could it just be a glitch in xp pro? thank you in advance for any useful posts on this matter |

| Hello davycuz, Firstly, welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit us and post often in the future - it helps us to grow, and it's only fair that if we help you, you help us. Firstly - you might want to try Firefox. It's a much better alternative to Internet Explorer, and it's free, too. You can get more information on it, as well as the free download link, at http://www.compuforums.org/get-firefox.html.

| "User agent string utility" is what I downloaded from microsoft to assist with any possible problems with IE7 - What this does is : When you open a webpage using this utility it gives you the identity that you still have IE6 due to the possible fact that the site you are on does not recognize IE7 as a valid browser yet. You still will use IE7 as your new updated browser when complete with those certain websites that need IE6. |
