Bub is on a distinguished road
Default observe sons pc

I have ntl broadband via a permenant line which is conected to
a router to feed 4 possible computers around the house.
at the moment I use my laptop and my son uses the PC.
I would like to know the best way to keep an eye on his PC.
just a bit worried when he is on the chat forums mainly yahoo.
everytime I walk in his room he locks the screen, I don't think
its anything but it would be good to know its just general chat
with his mates. is it possible to setup a spy type software so
I can make sure he is not being led astry.!!!

Hi Bub,

You might want to check out UltraVNC. It can be found at this link: The UltraVNC Developper Site

This free program allows you to view what is on your son's screen and control it. You can also blank the monitor and lock the keyboard and mouse with a single click. All you need to do is download and install it on both PCs, set a password and you're done. Note that some antivirus/antispyware may report it. This is because someone may have installed it without your knowledge to try and hijack your computer, but it is perfectly safe.

Hmm...I'd go with Ash's recommendation. But in my experience, if your child is locking the screen when you enter a room, chances are he's doing something you wouldn't approve of. You might want to use some software to block certain websites, or give him a limited account if you're worried about his use of chat clients--and prevent him from using them. Not that I'm telling you what to do as far as a parent goes, but this is a tricky area--you don't want to not trust your child, but still look out for them and keep them safe/out of trouble to a certain extent. Good luck.
