Download spybot search and destroy 1.4 (The home of Spybot-S&D! ) it is free . Sounds like you have spyware on your PC . Also I would download microsoft windows defender , it is also free and runs in the back ground to block spyware.

Personally I believe that Norton is a bad product... it slows down your system and there are better, free programs out there... I myself reccomend Avast Antivirus.

However it sounds to me like you have spyware/adware installed. Try Windows Defender: Windows Defender home

On the anti-virus program I have to agree with Ash , I use to be a big fan of Norton until I discovered Avast . It does not hog your system resources and works very well and most important it's free for homeowners. On my Pc I run Avast, spybot and adware personel , as well as Windows Defender.

Default norton...

I also agree... I used to have a good impression on norton anti virus but it did slow my pc and even hang it for no apparent reason. I recently change to trend micro anti virus and this is very good and reliable!

Hello,

I too used to be a Norton User, and I too experienced the same problems. Slow boot up times, lengthy updates, and annoying pop up messages. Now I just use my routers firewall, AVG AntiVirus which is free and just sits in the task bar working away with hardly any affect on performance, and SpyBot for keeping to spyware away.

Hope that helps you out.

So from the sounds of it, I shouldn't even use Norton at all right.. I have Norton on my PC, are you all suggesting not even using it at all and using the free ones in these posts? If so what do you think is the best combination(meaning firewall, anti-virus and so on)to use instead?
