| yeah,i think the msdn subscriber payment is crap, because the whole idea of beta testing is open testing of a product to find and sort bugs, it really defeats the object. Micro$oft is pretty annoying tbh. |

| I think I will have to reserve my views on this untill after the final release of vista to give a full opinion... However Tiger - Everything somehow seems very smooth in tiger just from a 'how it looks' point of view. Never been quite too keen on the one mouse button thing they have on the mac (I like my right mouse button). The only thing for me that has ever made the mac special is the fact that it tends to run faster, however now its using intel chips I really dont think thats the case anymore... I can see it dying of death eventually. Vista - Massive improvement over windows xp graphically, and although people may say it looks like mac, if the mac looks right, then so it should. Only downfall I can see is that it will inevitably impact performance which at the end of the day should be any computer users number 1 concern. But as I said, I will reserve judgement too much on this one till it comes out as a final product. (Have to say I like the dynamic folders though) OHHHHHH .. and since this is my first post ...... ello |

| How many of you guys have actually used and experienced a mac for a long amount of time? I have one, and I haven't turned it off for the last 9 months. It just works and lives. And trust me OSX runs good on intel chips. Addmitedly PowerPC chips were good. But so are intel ones, OSX is so well made, it is fitted to just say 12 CPUs not a whole range like windows. Therefore it can be made to run extremely stabaly, because it only has 12 sets of possible differences. Were windows deals with all CPUs in the x86 and x64 range. Leopard AnyDay, are we really still chatting about tiger. Check out Leopard. It is really good exspecially the time machines and stuff like that.

The problem with Macs was never their performance. I think anyone who knows anything about computers knows that Apple has always outperformed PCs. The problem was always Apple refusing to support applications that ran on PC Because of this the PC took off and Apple took the back seat. The only thing that may save them is that you can finally run Windows on a Mac. |

| First of all, shouldn't we be comparing Leopard and Vista as those are the two upcoming os's? Anyways, I would definitely go with Tiger (and definitely Leopard) over Vista. Aqua (in my opinion) looks much better than Aero and runs faster. Mac OS X is much more efficient than Vista (for instance, it can still run on my 7 year old laptop). It also is much more secure and its kernel at least is open source. Compatibility is not an issue with programs such as darwine, parallels, and bootcamp. Mac OS X is much more user friendly, especially for first time computer users. Yes, Vista does have some cool (and extremely memory intensive) eye candy, but its a copy of Mac OS X's expose features which has been around sine 10.3. Vista's new search feature is a copy of spotlight and its security still isn't very good (there was a critical flaw discovered within 24 hrs of the release of its first beta). Vista also hogs your memory and CPU, therefore requiring a very new computer to run it. As compared to the features in Leopard, Vista looks like crap. It has nothing even close to iChat's new video features, the new Spaces, and the new backup program (Time Machine). Vista also based its new graphics engine on Quartz, the graphics engine for Mac OS X. Mac OS X also has superior 64 bit processor support and Vista has nothing like Dashboard or Aqua's dock. |

| I'd probably say neither. Mac sucks, and Vista has too many bugs. But if I had to choose one, Vista. It would suck a lot less than Mac, but lately Microsoft has been making a lot of betas, and they're not really working that well at all ~Sean
