| I recently had a hard drive crash on my Windows XP system. Its the 2nd time it has crashed on the last 6 months. So yesterday I went a bought a new WD 320GB SATA drive to replace it. I installed XP last night, went to start setting it up and found that Windows was installed on I: drive. I have a stand alone computer with only one hard drive (the new one) and 2 DVD drives. Additionaly I have a bay of card readers (SD, CF, XD, MemStick). When I looked at My Computer all of the card readers and DVD drives were assigned letters higher than the new SATA drive. I rebooted and went back into the Windows Setup DOS program and it says that Windows is installed on C:. But when I start Windows its on I:. Whats the deal and how do I fix it so that Windows is on C:? |

| Due to the fact that during installation several registry keys would have been hard-set to I: and locating them all and changing it would be quite a difficult task I suggest that you simply reformat and pay attention to the partitioning layout during the windows installation. You probably want to disconnect all drives besides the hard drive and CD drive during the install.
