| Hey I have had this problem for a while now, but never really noticed it, until I realised that hibernating is so much quicker to startup. Anyway, what the problem is that whenever I go to Start- Turn of Computer - (shift) Hibernate, it works and does I guess what it is supposed. It has the blue screen that goes, preparing to hibernate with the windows logo, and then the black screen with the Hibernating.... status beads. Thats when it screws up, as soon as it has finished hibernating, the system and computer turns off, then after 1 second, it turns back on, with the little beep then resuming windows. It doesn't stay hibernated!!!!! I am using an ASUS motherboard, and I am wondering what settings I would need to change to make hibernate stay hibernated !Thanks in advance for any help... |

| How much RAM do you have? The reason I ask is that there are known issues with hibernation on systems with 1GB or more RAM.

| thats quite ironic, as my computer is pretty old (which is why I prefer to hibernat over the gruelling time it takes to startup normally) and has 256mb ram with a 2.6 ghz processor I think the computer is three years old so... |

| Ok it was an issue with XP which was fixed in SP2. Assuming you have SP2 all I can think of is that perhaps you have too many heavy processes running when you try to hibernate. Make sure you close anything that is resource hungry (including Outlook or MS Office progs) before you hibernate. You could also look at reducing your start up time by reducing the number of progs in system startup.

| go to start>run. type msconfig and click on selective startup. restart the computer so that the changes can take effect. U might want to consider cleaning up the clutter on yr disk by using disk cleanup, defragging the disk by Disk Defragmentor and repairing bad sectors by CHKDSK |
