Will Internet Explorer 8 Support Windows XP?

I doubt that there would be any reason why IE8 won't run on XP, but I expect that as MS trys to force people to use Vi$ta, they will stop IE8 from installing on XP.

It will probably install, but run worse than it would on vista. I've already noticed many differences with Office 07 that go much quicker on Vista than on XP. Also, I've noticed that IE runs slower, and crashes more when a newer version has come out. Funny how it does fine till the week after the new version is released... then bam!

I havent noticed that about a new version of ie I had 6 on my work computer till my hard drive crashed then they put 7 on, but they seem to run the same speed to me with xp. However ie7 is a lot faster on vista then xp

it would be great if IE8 supports XP. If in cluded in SP3 would be even greater. If somebody would wriye a petition to microsoft then...................

IE7 just came out.. to release another MAJOR version after just 14 months would be outrageous, especially for MS, when they don't see anything as being enough competition to warrant a new major version. (remember the IE/Netscape wars?, even then IE didn't release major versions very often)

But, as a conciliatory note, Firefox is seen by MS as a major browser. Case in point, MS Silver light, the competition for Flash is a plug in for Firefox, Netscape and others, not just IE. (personal thought, MS may know what it's biting off when scraping with Adobe. Adobe may very well be a sleeping lion)

Firefox is a major player because they came along and improved web browsers so much with all of their add-ons. Microsoft should be concerned about its growing popularity because people everywhere are starting to figure out that it's superior to Internet Explorer.

As all higher versions of the product are always forward compatible with the older versions and i think Microsoft will have to follow this rule and hopefully IE* will be available for XP as well.

Compatible yes, but trust me I doubt that it will have all the same features and run as well on XP.
