| I would wait for the official SP3 download. You don't know what sort of trojans and spyware could be bundled with the unofficial releases. MS may even be send free copies on CD in the post like they did for SP2.

| MS hoped everyone would jump on the vista bandwagon, and that the SP3 would not be but a roll-up of the critical updates, enough to make the stragglers keep quiet. It did not turn out that way. I think that the biggest reason that MS put out Vista now, instead of holding off (yet again) was that the number of license codes (CD Keys) was getting near the bottom of the barrel. They admitted they were running low (to out) of cd key possibilities in an article about a year ago. And, if you are a member of MSDN (MS Developers Network), you can get the current releases. There are, of course, agreements to sign, and standards to uphold (licenses to be adhered to), and tracking the downloads of the software, as well as the activations. |
