Exclamation Software issues with Vista!

I recently purchased a vaio laptop that came with Vista on it and one day, my Windows Media Player stopped working as well as my audio. It says to re download WMP, but I can't delete the version that is on there now for some reason! Another thing is that I added more ram to my computer and when I went to refresh the score that they give you, it came up with an error about something that says (or I think this is how they said it) run32dll has stopped working and cannot finish the task that was in process. How do you fix any of these problems? Any help would be very helpful.

If anyone else reads this post and doesn't want to put xp on or something I was going to suggest rolling back the drivers for your sound. I was having an issue where everytime I downloaded a windows "update" my comp would get screwed. I just finally rolled back the drivers to when I knew they worked, and turned off automatic updates. I am not sure if this is the best advice, but It has worked for me. I no longer have soundcard issues.

why do people think that this is an option for solving vista's problems? most people can't afford to go buy XP just because vista sucks. ubuntu is not for everyone as some need to use more than everyday application. what i'm trying to say is that vista may not be the best, but it's out there and most be tolerated.

I agree. Ive now been using Vista for a couple of weeks and although Im not a big user, ie we're using it only for email, internet, and office and accounting packages, we've (touch wood) have had no problems and quite like the novelty of it. Tested back up and restore and despite bad reviews, I found it OK.

I think the main problem with Vista is that it was released too early. MS may have taken over 5 years to develop it, but most of those years were spent on Longhorn. They couldn't get that out for another year or so so they scrapped Longhorn and basically re-used the Windows NT codebase that XP, 2K, and all the NT versions ran. Plus MS didn't test Vista for as long as they should have done - it really is beta quality software. I think that like XP, Vista SP1 will resolve a lot of current problems.
