Default Repair option is missing

Hi.
I had some problems with my windows, so i decided to perfrom a repairing. but when i boot from my windows XP CD i dont see any repair option (?). And more - if i choose "set up windows xp" on my existing XP partition i get a message saying that "this partition is not a windows xp compatible", however i know how to solve it - usually I simply disconnect the addintional hard drive i have, and leave just the one with the windows XP on it. But still, its very annoying to do it every time i want to format and i would like to get a solution for that too.

Thakns for helpers.

Are you saying that when you select to put a new install onto your existing Windows partition, it does not give you the option of running a repair?
