Actually SpyBot SD has such advanced features that I (a technician) won't even mess with. The advanced features are NOT for the casual user -- but rather the professional or expert. SpyBot SD is excellent not only for detecting virus' and spyware, but also TO PREVENT THEM in the first place.

Having only one Anti-Spyware application installed is usually not enough. I recommend layering your security apps with 2 or more (other than firewalls).

My personal pic is SpyBot SD ( #1) and AVG Anti-Spyware (#2). I have several other apps for special occasions that weigh heavy on the CPU, and run them on a seperate machine.

Well than it could be extension problem try to disable each extension one by one and see If problem goes away.

MsMpEng.exe ------ thats the culprit , i killed it and bang down to 1%-11% idiling

Windows Live One Care Is a joke just uninstall it and problem solved: MsMpEng.exe is the nugget draining my CPU...

100% built it and installed windows xp home OEM myself

Did some more research found it Is also part of Windows Defender: Windows Defender's msmpeng.exe

Mine are the only fingers ever thrown across this keyboard , Mine are the only eyes peered into this monitor

I do not trust windows defender I would get a good Anti-Virus software like this: Free Anti-Virus Protection - Active Virus Shield it will say courtesy of AOL,but it Is not an AOL product at all AOL paid lots of money to Kaspersky Lab for puting their name on it.

I do layer protection and it does a good job along with the other ones

Ill stick with ti for now
