Hi Ne146t9, some questions to clarify your situation.
I take it from what your saying that the pc you have now is running 310MB (unusual number) of RAM? if this is so i would assume its SDRAM. Running Win ME, is this correct?
Whats the processor?
IN answer to yur question, the only way i know to get a clean install of Win XP is to boot from an XP cd and install it that way. This does mean you will need a valid copy of Windows XP with relevant codes, you may be able to purchase an upgrade package from Windows.com
TBH, if the specs of this machine are as bad as they sound, i wouldnt bother trying XP on it as i suspect it will crash at the earliest opportunity becuase it wont be able to handle XP.

Would you be able to clarify if it has 32MB of RAM or 320MB of RAM, and as Fubar asked, what CPU it has?

Also, when you mentioned you wanted to 'install windows xp on this computer without a boot dick', are you refering to the Windows XP CD-ROM or a floppy dick used for booting the system so it can then load the CD?
