Hi there travicles,

Welcome to CompuForums! It's great that you have chosen to become a valued member of our community.

I hope that you can visit us and post often in the future - it helps us to grow, and it's only fair that if we help you, you help us. Also it would be fantastic if you could add yourself to our member map. If you need any help using the site or have any suggestions that would help improve your experience, them please do not hesitate to contact us.

We discourage buying and/or installing Vista at this time - but if you really must, a quick Google found this tutorial:
Dual Boot Vista and XP

Again, I do not suggest installing it right now. If you have already purchased Vista, you should take it back to the store and get a refund.

I am positive that unless you install on 2 seperate hard drives, you cannot do such a thing. XP used a MBR to boot up, Vista has replaced this with its own new found way of booting using different files than before. There can only be one MBR at any given time and it would ignore any other installations other than the Windows version it was installed for.

You can. But it will be a clean install. I looked into it earlier this week.

I take an opposite stance than Ash. Install Vista. See how it works out. Backup all your files on an external hard drive. If it doesn't work out, or you don't like it, you can always go back.

A question if I may: What are you using this computer for?
