Default Help Please?

firts hello,
I have a comp my brother gave me. Compaq pesario, 5wv282 5000 series. 900 MHz AMD atholn,128 MB memory,20.0GB hard drive,dvd-rom drive,cd-rw drive,8MB Nvidia TNT2 Graphics,Logitech Quickcam express,56K modem 10/100mb PCI NIC.
My question is it has windows me on it and i want to put xp on it I know i have to add more memory to it for sure, will it work properly with what the rest of the system has or is the comp. not good enough?

Welcome to CompuForums!
It's great to have you here. I hope that you can visit our community and post often in the future, even after we have found a solution for you.

That system should run XP fine, however I strongly suggest that you upgrade the RAM. While XP can run with just 64mb of ram [I have done it myself], unless you have at least 256mb things will be painfully slow.

It depends on the type of ram in the HP. Do you know what type of RAM it is?

Also, I believe the Compaq has SD-RAM. It's quite cheap nowadays, especially the slower speeds. I doubt that PC will have fast ram anyway [probably PC100 or something like that]

I dont know if this helps but i went to staples 2 years ago and baught a i think it was 128Mb for the HP and put it in.

Hold on a second - not all RAM is the same. You'll need to find out what type of RAM is in that computer before you go and buy some.
