Post New Features In Ubuntu 8.04

Well its not long untill Ubuntu releases 8.04, or Hardy Heron out onto the market.

8.04 Will have the new features:

Xorg 7.3
Linux kernel 2.6.24
GNOME 2.22 - Which also inclued the new Nautilus, which will give us the features of restoring things from the trash can and pause and undo opperations (like copy and paste)
PolicyKit - This allows normal users to gain access to a certian program with administrator rights by clicking a button (I think Vista has somethign simlar to this)
PulseAudio
Firefox 3 Beta 4 - Which I think is a bad thing, as most of my plugins don't work on Firefox 3...
Transmission - New and better Torrent downloader
Vinagre - The new VNC client, that allows the user to view mulitiple screens at the same time
Brasero - A new CD/DVD burning utillity
World Clock Applet - Allows the user to view the time and wheather in a number of diffrent locations
Inkscape - A program that will allow users to edit the text and graphics in a PDF document
KVM Virtualization
iSCSI support
UFW Firewall
Extra Memory Protection
Wubi - This a great new installer for the Windows platform. It allows Windows users to install and uninstall Ubuntu like you would with any other Windows application.

Well, all appart from the New Firefox, I think it contains many great new features. If I have enough memory on my EEEPC, I think I'm going to upgrade.

I agree with you about firefox that it shouldnt be there. However thats the nature of Ubuntus 6 month release cycle. Also I would like to mention that I tries Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4 and it is a huge memory hog and KDE 4 is way too buggy yet.

I've never really liked KDE, Gnome is just simpler I think...
And I've heard that the Beta release does have a few bugs in, so hopefuly when the final release comes out, they would of fixed them

I was a fan of KDE untill the 4.0 release. I dont like it at all now so I think I will have to switch to Gnome
